The Top 5 Most Essential SEO Plugins for WordPress Blogs

WordPress is one of the most popular CMS (Content Management Systems) for a number of reasons.  In particular, it’s SEO-friendly and has a number of free plugins that are great for SEO.

In this article, I’ll list my top SEO plugins for wordpress in 2013.  I’m going to try to limit my list to the plugin that you NEED, rather then just gestating a bunch of plugins, which are useful but not necessary.

  1. 2. Google XML Sitemaps and Sitemaps for Images – Once installed, this plugin automatically generates an XML sitemap for your blog.  The default location is  Sitemaps are useful because they help search engines such as Google and Bing crawl your pages and get them indexed faster.  You should also verify your sitemap with Webmaster Tools.  The Sitemap Google News plugin is also really good for submitting sites into Google News.
  3. Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP) – It’s a funny name for a plugin but honestly really good for your user experience and SEO.  Once installed, it creates a list of links to related articles on your blog underneath your content.  This is good for increasing page views among users, but it’s also a great way of automatically interlinking content on your blog to help with on-page SEO.
  4. Sociable Plugin – This adds social icons above and below each of your posts and pages, which encourages users to share and tweet your content.  Social signals are becoming increasingly important in SEO, and in my opinion you should be adding social icons both above and below your posts.  It encourages uses to follow your website and “like’ something easily.  You can also customize the plugin with other features and add a dynamic social slider to the left-hand side of your blog.
  5.
